Unpublished

I shot this mini editorial a while back for a magazine in Colombia. By a while back I mean March. Since I've no clue wether it will ever get published I am posting it here. Also, I've been prioritizing my school work and sleep during the last few weeks so my photography has been nose-diving. I quite like this shoot, though to be honest I liked it a lot better when I first shot it... I miss Camilla and Mario, my ever-willing models who would let me boss them around just for the sake of a photo. The British gang haven't reached that level of commitment. Yet.

I attended an amazing little event here in Sheffield called PushPull which is a forum created by photographers to showcase their work and talk about it with other creative people. I didn't show, and I don't know if I'll summon up the courage to do so. The other photographers seemed miles away from me in terms of talent and vision. I need to commit more. Have got an idea for a series so we'll see how that pans out. Rant over. More photos!

Monochrome Mistakes

First black and white film roll. Film has been an agonizing but beautiful experience. Everything is trial and error, stupid mistakes, unexpected results and loud shutter clicks. I stepped into a dark room today for the first time and it felt... like my instructor was quite annoyed with me. To be fair, I was 10 minutes late. I can still get lost in Sheffield, I've only been here a month. In any case my roll wasn't going to be easy to develop and I was only treated to a lecture on chemicals and learned getting the roll developed requires some fumbling around in pitch black darkness. Not a fan of darkness, not alone and not in a locked room with a stranger. But I got the roll on the spool thing and into the developing thing, so I get a pat on the back. The amazing-ness began when we got to the printing part. Watching the image come up on the paper basically made my heart skip a beat. It wasn't my photo but it was still wonderful. Next up: developing my roll. Adventures in film continues.

These I took on a kind of black and white film that can't be properly developed at my uni's darkroom so I had them developed the boring way: Boots. The effects were not intentional. I simply suck in the unloading film department.

Ella

Here are the digital results of yesterday's impromptu shoot. Ella is uploading hers soon and I am really excited (apprehensive) because it's my first time being shot by another photographer.

I was wearing inappropriate footwear for this outing. Must clean my poor saddle shoes...

35 mm

Taking advantage of a redbull induced energy high, I set off on Friday for a mini photographer meetup with Ella Ruth Cowperthwaite. She had told me of a little wooded area close by she'd been to, so we proceeded to climb UP for a good 15 minutes. I will not get used to Sheffield hills. It was worth it though, it's a beautiful place and perfect for shoots, no people walking around. Hopefully, we'll go back there for proper photoshoots. I took film and digital for the first time. I also accidentally opened the back of my Pentax before winding the film and did something unexplainable that resulted in something that looks like a double exposure. I was crashing from my redbull high. It's my only excuse for being such a noob. The light leak turned out beautifully though. Film and digital will be two different posts for the sake of neatness. I must say, film makes this location look wondrously creepy.

berries, daisies and roses

Some self-portraits I managed to shoot whilst running away from other park goers. It's cloudy and rainy, leave the park alone! For me...
