Madonna
One of the things I miss most about England is my collaborations with Ella Ruth. We've decided to keep the tradition going despite being thousands of miles from each other and in different time zones. For our first cross-Atlantic collab we decided on a concept and gave each other the freedom to take it in our own personal directions. Stipulations: shoot is done inside, and it was meant to be a self-portrait. Ella left her remote in Sheffield, so she cheated and used her sister instead. Since it's the first time I'll let is slide. I was inspired by catholic representations of the Madonna, though I'm afraid my glittery head-piece is more Lady Liberty than Renaissance doll. Look out for another collab next month and check out Ella's photos here.

Daniella
Finally met a fellow photographer in my home town. Dani answered my desperate pleas for willing models and we spent a couple of hours in one of Barranquilla's oldest and prettiest neighborhoods. She also sweet-talked the owner of a gorgeous old house into letting us use it for the shoot. Go Dani! Hoping to meet more local photogs and collaborating with Dani again soon.

Dying roses
I'm going through a very dry patch when it comes to my photography. My usual models are gone and my facebook prompts have led to zero photoshoots. It looks to continue for the next couple of months until I make my way to Portland, Oregon once more and hopefully get my mojo back. Ella Ruth and I ARE planning a special little collaboration in the coming weeks so there will be something to look forward to. Also, I found some expired film that I will be shooting around town but I won't be able to develop it till summer.
In the meantime here are some self-portraits taken on a very boring Sunday afternoon.

Lola - Mini post
Found some portraits of the gorgeous Wenjing Fan (AKA Lola) while cleaning up my hard drive. She's all the way in China now, living the life in Beijing.
Starting to do mini-posts in between my bigger shoots to share some of my more random shots. Also tweaked the blog a bit to make it as clean as possible.
I've started a beauty/style blog @ prettydinosaurs.blogspot.com, follow for makeup, nail stuff and fashion.

Sunny side up
Is there anything quite as challenging as shooting at noon in the sub-tropical sun? Not really, especially after being used to the rather feeble English sun. It was noon or bust as my model had class all afternoon. Challenge accepted. I was very worried as I couldn't actually see if I was exposing and focusing the photos correctly (stupid glare) and I kept forgetting I had my sunglasses on. Luckily, or skillfully, I did get photos I loved and didn't take much editing. Kudos to Isabella for braving the 30 degree heat in that pink jumper. It's a lovely homecoming to shooting in Colombia again and I'm looking forward to more shoots.
